Google has updated its financial products and services policy, according to which, advertisers can submit requests for advertisements focused on cryptocurrency exchanges and digital wallets targeting the United States. However, advertisers have to be certified by Google, advertisers will need to register with FinCEN as a Money Services Business or with a federal or state chartered bank entity.

However, advertisements for initial coin offerings (ICOs), decentralized finance (DeFi) trading protocols, or otherwise promoting the purchase, sale, or trade of cryptocurrencies or related products are not allowed. Moreover, advertisement for cryptocurrency trading signals, investment advice and aggregators are also banned.

Google banned all ads for cryptocurrency back in March 2018. The IT giant said it took down 3.2 billion ads that violated its advertising policies in 2017, nearly double the number of ads it removed in 2016.
