Crypto trading platform Bitfinex has removed fees on crypto deposits, including stablecoins, the platform has reported.

However, it must be noted that a 0.1% fee is still applied to fiat deposits (minimum $60).

Let's remember that deposit fees were introduced by the crypto exchange back in December 2017 in order to avoid large amounts of small transfers between wallets, which has a negative impact on the speed of the platform. Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino has said:

"Since we have developed capabilities to thwart these deposit-related spam attacks, the small deposit fee is no longer required. The removal of small deposit fees allows retail traders to access crypto trading."

Bitfinex is not the first crypto trading platform to remove fees on crypto deposits. However, Kraken still charges a fee on some crypto deposits.
