Multinational financial corporation, Fidelity Investments, has invested $1.9 million in blockchain data startup Coin Metrics, Finextra reports.

Coin Metrics is an open source blockchain-focused data startup, which aims to map all the operational and economic activity occurring on a public blockchain.

Coin Metrics CEO Tim Rice says all of Coin Metrics’ investors "are bought into the idea" that the next phase of investing in crypto requires robust comprehensive data and infrastructure.

"We are building a world-class data company from the ground up to ensure the type of support and quality that top tier funds and asset managers expect," he added.

Earlier it was announced that Fidelity will launch its own crypto custody in March 2019.
