Maersk announces that the Canada Border Services Agency agreed to launch TradeLens, a Blockchain digital delivery solution developed by Maersk and IBM to provide more efficient and secure global trade.

To ease the flow of legitimate travelers and trade across the Canadian border, on an average day CBSA handles over 58,600 commercial releases, 14,400 trucks, 240,000 mailings and 127,400 courier shipments, collecting over $88,200,000 (CDN) on duty and taxes. CBSA wants to improve efficiency in order and increase the number of people and commercial goods that pass through Canada’s ports.

CBSA participates in the launch of TradeLens to determine what role a platform can play in business processes. The Agency aims to determine whether this type of decision can improve the quality of commercial data and increase the transparency end timeliness of cargo movement.
