One of the oldest and most well-known art auction houses Christie's in collaboration with Artory’s digital art registry plans to use Blockchain to record sales of art objects.

Richard Entrup, chief information officer at Christie's said:

"Our pilot collaboration with Artory is a first among the major global auction houses, and reflects growing interest within our industry to explore the benefits of secure digital registry via blockchain technology."

The first test of the Blockchain technology will be held on November 13 and 14 during the auction called “An American Place: The Barney A. Ebsworth Collection”. The auction will feature a collection of American collector Barney Ebsworth, including works by Willem de Kooning, Georgia O’Keefe, Jasper Johns and Franz Klein.

Artory’s Blockchain platform will keep records of every sale, including the name, description, final price and date. The registry will also provide a digital transaction certificate. Then, Christie's will give each customer access to the encrypted information about their purchased works.
