On evening of September 11, a largest bitcoin in the history was mined on the bitcoin (Bitcoin) main network. The size of the block #540107 was 2,259 megabytes. That's according to twitter of a user called Conan O`Bitcoin.

The increase in size of the block on the blockchain network became possible due to the implementation of the SegWit (Segregated Witness) and the introduction of transaction batching. SegWit was a soft fork introduced to bitcoin to change the transaction format. SegWit is also being introduced by some cryptocurrency exchanges. In March, the platforms have announced the lowering of transaction fees on withdrawals of bitcoin using this technology.
