PatientDirected.io claims that the World’s first patient health data transfer over blockchain has been accomplished. According to the press release, the patient requested data from one clinic and transferred it to another via a mobile application developed by PatientDirected.

The solution company is developing means to give control to patients themselves and let them monetize their own data.

At the moment hospitals, clinics, doctors, and other medical institutions are trading valuable patient information. It is not clear how they will react if this ability is taken from them. Healthcare is already an expensive service as it is; could it get even more expensive if it isn’t the hospitals that would be making money from patient data but patients themselves?
