More cities and states support the development of blockchain and create an infrastructure for the study and application of technology. Now the same goes for the American state of Connecticut.

Governor Dannel Malloy signed a new bill, SB 443, which creates a working group for blockchain technology in the state. It will analyze the landscape and provide the support necessary for the growth of technology. The bill also creates a directive for the government to support the blockchain businesses.

“The Commissioner of Economic and Community Development shall convene a Connecticut Blockchain Working Group to develop a master plan for fostering the expansion and growth of the blockchain industry in the state and recommend policies and state investments to make Connecticut the world leader in blockchain technology,” the bill said.

According to the plan, the working group should:

  • Identify the pros and cons of the development of the blockchain
  • Recommend initiatives that would strengthen technology
  • Review “workforce needs and academic programs required to build blockchain expertise across all relevant industries”
  • Make recommendations regarding tax code, appropriations, permits for issuing bonds, administrative and organizational actions, and related activities

The group will employ five or more people. By the way, Connecticut beat California as the California version of SB 443, known in the state as CA AB2658, has not yet been voted on.

Recently Industrial Development Authority of Ireland (IDA) has launched an information source platform “Blockchain Ireland”. The state body positions the Republic as the world's leading center of blockchain and a place that is friendly to international companies. A new resource should help in this endeavor.

Also it became known that Australian Brisbane was becoming the foremost city using cryptocurrency. The local airport introduced payments in cryptocurrencies inits outlets and in addition, "Australia's first digital currency town" appeared five hours north of Brisbane.
