Potential investors in the Bee Token, 2018’s most eagerly anticipated ICO, have been swindled of nearly $1 million in Ethereum (ETH/USD) just over 25 hours, Hacked reported.

The company has confirmed the phishing attacks on its official Twitter and Medium accounts, warning that users should treat emails and Telegram messages directly encouraging users to send funds are likely fraudulent.

“Please note that we will NEVER EVER communicate an Ethereum address through an email or Direct Message to you via Telegram,” the company noted.

Cryptocurrency Boom Attracts More Hackers

Bee Token launched its public ICO on Jan. 31. However, while the startup runs its token sale, scammers posing as operators appeared to have launched their own version. Using email addresses like presale_regirstration@thebeetoken.com, the scammers contacted would-be buyers who then signed up for the full token sale.

Bee Token is a home sharing platform that connects hosts and guests over a decentralized network. Its aim is to disrupt the fast-growing sharing economy by offering lower transaction fees and better incentives without the middleman.
