Durov said he is ready to sacrifice millions of dollars towards that goal. He urged all to join and participate by setting up proxy/VPN servers or by financing them.

Barclays Weighing the Launch of Cryptocurrency Trading Desk. UK Banking Giant Barclays Plc has been gauging clients’ interest in the British bank starting a cryptocurrency trading desk, and has done a preliminary assessment of demand and feasibility. The bank says it currently has no concrete plans to start such an operation, but keeps an eye on developments in the digital currency space.

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken quits Japan. US-based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken will stop its trading services in Japan, citing rising costs of doing business there. The company plans to cease all its services, which began in October 2014, by the end of June, but does not rule out the possibility of re-entering the country in the future. Kraken, the 10th largest exchange by by volume, had been allowed to operate in Japan without a license.

Pornhub starts accepting cryptocurrency. One of the most popular adult websites in the world Pornhub has announced that it added support for cryptocurrencies. Beginning today, Pornhub will accept Verge as a payment option for all Pornhub purchases such as Pornhub premium, HD, and on-demand services and merchandising, but not recurring subscriptions. For users, it means that they now have an option to visit Pornhub anonymously. Verge developers claim it to be secure and anonymous, built with a focus on privacy.
